As you know I’m in the internet profits certified partner program with Dean Holland. We have quarterly events where we all get together and talk and discuss ideas and get some training. Going back to the 22nd of December 2023 it was a partner event that was so incredible that I have written a two part blog about it. Make sure you read next week’s part 2, it’s Coaching Gold!
After the online call and activities, what we didn’t know is that Dean had an amazing surprise for us, which was a full hour zoom call with all of us and his mentor Alex Jefferys. I have mentioned Alex in the past and in my social media videos.
Dean introduced Alex with his now famous quote to Dean which was “stop chasing money let the money chase you”. This is what Alex said to Dean 15 years ago when Dean attended a training event run by Alex. Dean was in a lot of debt and desperate to make things work. He arrived at the event in an oversize jacket and was only one of two people that bothered to attend and the other person left early which meant that Dean had some one-to-one time with Alex.
Dean asked Alex “what shall I do?” and Alex said “start a blog tell people what you are doing the good the bad the ugly the success the failure everything.” Even though that didn’t make a lot of sense to Dean, Dean said “ I trusted the person that is doing what I want to do”, incidentally that’s what I am now doing with Dean.
15 years on and Alex still mentors Dean. These days Alex only works with seven and eight figure businesses so we were very privileged to have time with him for free. This is the generosity of Alex and Dean.
Alex started the call by asking for all the screen shares to be turned off so he could see everybody’s faces. He wanted to look at our faces. He wanted to look in our eyes and see who we are and how engaged we are. You can see the different mentality and mindset of successful people .
Alex started with quite a mind blowing statement he said “I’m in the UK in my stepfather‘s spare bedroom on this call. My stepfather has gone to work and will be back later, in the time he comes back, I would’ve made more money in profit today than he does in a whole year” ! So, just repeat that Alex made more money that day in profit than his stepfather does in an entire year. Let that sink in for a bit.
He said, “and I’m doing that while I’m in his spare bedroom with a cup of tea in my pyjamas. This is what is possible with affiliate marketing.” Wow! do you want a piece of that life? I do and that’s what I am doing. If you want to work towards that sign up to my FREE email newsletter and I can guide you.
He told us that before he knew Dean, back in school he was a dropout. He didn’t go to college he didn’t go to university, but he said he was a straight A student difference is A stood for absent. He spent most of his time on the streets with other kids this is where he learned a lot about emotional intelligence. His dad went to prison when he was 11 years old and so he he saw crime, spoke about crime and was surrounded by crime and about 10 years later he was in the same courthouse looking at 10 years himself. This didn’t happen.
When he was 24 his ex-wife gave him an ultimatum, she said you can to go to prison with your friends or we start a family together. She said we can’t bring up children in this environment so she gave me an ultimatum.
He read a book by Stephen Pearce which really inspired him to make changes in his life. He didn’t say which book it was, but it may be “ the secrets of influential people”.
He said that you either run towards something or run away from something. For him it wasn’t a case of running towards mansions and a rolls-Royce or a rich lifestyle and Porsche 911 it was actually running away from poverty. He didn’t want to be broke anymore that was his driver.
He needed that because he didn’t want to be broke anymore. He came across affiliate marketing online, he said that he thought it was something easy for him to do.
Many people find and you may find this yourself when you start that they find it difficult to sit in front of a camera and talk. However, because Alex came as this kid from the streets background with a lot of trouble, let’s say he found it quite easy to just talk in front of a camera and tell people the honest truth about what he is and what he’s doing, it came natural to him.
Dean Graziosi is Tony Robbins business partner and he said to Alex, “ the beginner tries to look like the expert and the expert tries to look like the beginner”. Don’t try too hard because if you are, you’re not being you. just be you!
So Alex did affiliate marketing to get away from poverty. What is your reason? What are you running from or what are you running to? Let me know in the comments? For me it was get away from the worry and anxiety and stress of not being able to get through each month comfortably to be able to deal with extra costs and surprise bills.
He said “I became good at affiliate marketing because I was open and honest and I was me just me”.
He said that most people on the Internet are just full of c**p, most, so if you can be you, be authentic, be open, be honest people will like you and then trust you. Also, If you find a product that you believe in the two together can make life change very quickly. I believe I am now doing that with Dean’s products and my blog and social media. See my link tree to follow me.
As Alex told his story regularly and on his blog on the Internet people started to read it, people started to follow it but also a lot of people started to come up with excuses of why they can’t do it like I haven’t got the time. I can’t add any value. I don’t know what to do and then Alex kind of became an information marketer. Somebody who could then teach others how to do what he was doing.
He said the biggest problem with the people that don’t make it is because they don’t stick with it they give up they don’t keep going. And he said look, it’s 15 years on and Dean is still with me because Dean stuck with it and Dean made it.
Once you find somebody who has already done what you want to do and has shown other people how to do it, that’s the person that you need to stick with and follow for a very long time. For Dean that was Alex for me it’s Dean and for you it’s me (Atif – TeamBABA!)
Coaching Gold (sorry about the photo that’s the wrong kind of coach)
He described the time when he set up a presentation for 100 of people to tell them about what he’s done and what he’s doing in affiliate marketing and he was so scared so nervous that he felt like he was going to collapse and he asked the organisers to get him a chair so he could sit down and do his presentation. In the crowd there was Dean Holland, watching. Dean was one of the 10 Alex had invited and said “I’m paying”, but only 2 came from that group.
After the presentation, Alex had a train to catch to Cardiff so he was literally running out of the building and as he was running, somebody was running after him it was Dean. Dean said to him “I love what you doing what shall I do?” Alex told him to start a blog and tell people about his journey. They took a selfie with Dean in his big coat and Alex was gone, to get his train.
This 30 second meeting is what changed Dean’s life but what actually changed Dean‘s life is that he did what Alex asked him to do. He did what the person who has done what he wants to do said to do and that’s why Alex said Dean has gone on to make tens and millions of pounds because most people , do not do it. They come up with excuses they have a whole story of why they can’t do it and they believe that story. The ones who do it are the successful ones.
Personally, I am doing exactly what Dean asked me to do nothing more nothing less. It’s laid out. I’m trying to follow Dean and God willing I will be in a similar position where I am making a lot of money creating the lifestyle I want for my family and being able to help others.
He said to write down what are we trying to run towards and what are we trying to run away from. For him he wants to get a Rolls-Royce but that’s not as important because the Rolls-Royce will come to him when everything else is set up right. It’s harder staying away from and moving away from the poverty.
Also, he said who outside of yourself do you want to do this for? If someone said to me jump in front of a car, I wouldn’t do it but I would for my kids. Who are you doing this for? For me it’s, wife, kids, sisters, nieces and nephews and my community.
Alex then saw Dean make his first sale on the Internet. Having lost thousands and thousands he now made his first sale. It was made because he was sharing his story and people were relating to it.
It’s not ChatGPT or any technology that’s going to make this happen for you. It’s the storytelling. It’s people that love to follow our story. Keep going forward doing the next thing and then telling people about it more and more people will be interested and want to follow you and want to do the same. Then you have your audience then you have your followers who are true fans.
Mike Filsaime was Alex’s mentor. Alex had 650 people that gave him £500 to go onto that mentoring course. Alex asked his followers why didn’t you just buy from Mike? Why did you buy from me? They said Mike seems ahead and he has teams and he has companies I can’t relate to that, but I can relate to you. I feel like I can hang onto your coattails and you can take me to success.
Alex then spoke about our plans for 2024 he said how Dean will deal with the techniques in the training side of it but the other side is down to us. He made us write down that “I will take responsibility for my results”. It’s not anybody else’s fault and I can’t make excuses. It’s up to me . Realise that I am the problem but I am also the solution.
He gave us an exercise following this which was eye opening, I’ll tell you about that in next weeks blog.

I agree, that particular day with Dean and Alex was special. It helped to create a vision for this business, and each day after, the vision was cemented. Each of us has a special contribution.
I look forward to Alex coming back to enlarge the ever evolving vision we’ve created, so far.
Atif, I like Dean Holland had Alex Jefferys was my Mentor back in 2008. Alex has been one of the most trusted online marketers I have ever worked with. Alex’s early background was a major challenge for me at the start. That said, I focused on Alex’s online results and his powerful branding statement. Atif, you’re in good hands with a Mentor like Dean Holland from the Alex Jefferys school of crime! “Just Be Yourself and Follow Your Dreams” great post bro!
Hi Atif,
Attending that LIVE was a game changer with affiliate marketing mindset. So many people say it is a scam because they don’t have the patience to learn the skills and build their business. They give up too easily or pretend to be someone they aren’t which leads to a weak business foundation. I am glad to have taken Dean’s course, gained much knowledge through his mentorship program, and met amazing people in this community!
All the best!

It was a brilliant day. I still often think of that training and his words still resonate with me.
It is up to us to make our own success, which makes the achievements even sweeter as WE did it!
My dad always says you can do anything if you put your mind to it, and this experience has shown that saying is true.
Affiliate Marketing is incredible journey but it’s inspiring to hear about the impactful mentorship from Alex Jefferys and the valuable insights. Your dedication to following their guidance and implementing their strategies shines through in your commitment to your own success. Looking forward to part 2 and continuing to follow your journey! Btw I like your TikTok
Hi Atif,
I saw that training on the recording. I couldn’t be there for it live. It was amazing though! The advice that Alex Jefferys gave everyone was like no other. No wonder Dean is so good at what he does. He learned remarkable things from Alex Jefferys, and I’m so glad we all can be a part of that… Great post, Atif. Thank you!
Meredith
Impressive story that the one of Alex Jefferys. It’s determination to get out of poverty was what propulsed him to success. A great part of Dean’s proven plan comes from this guy so we can consider ourselves very lucky to have Dean as our mentor. Good post Atif. Looking forward to see the next part.

This is BRILLIANT, Atif… I missed that event and never did go back and visit the recording. I am going to do that now because I missed a good one. No excuses anymore. I also need to revisit this last event that I missed. I never get to attend live events due to my work, but I always listen to the recordings. What a great post. I ALWAYS look forward to your weekly posts because you offer so much insight into this. Thank you so much for being such an extraordinary man. Your writings are inspirational and honest….just the way they should be. So much of what is out there on the internet is the beginner acting like the expert. I don’t want to see that… I want to know the one that is vulnerable and learning. I can’t wait until next week…
It’s a great and very encouraging story. I like what he’s saying about authenticity and the need to be honest online. First of all, people can usually tell if we’re trying to pretend we’re experts when we’re not, but even if we manage to fool them that can also be off-putting because they will think we’re unapproachable, and they can’t relate to us.
I was doing some research about TikTok and I found that accounts with less than 10K subscribers can actually have better engagement than larger accounts which was interesting – people want to engage, but if we’re too big they often won’t because they don’t think there’s a point.
Atif,
I learn something from Dean every time he does a post. We must continue to learn in our business. If we stop learning we stop growing. I do have to say that hearing from Alex was certainly a treat. and I may have to go back and rewatch the recording. It is evident why Dean is such a good teacher. He genuinely cares for us and wants us to succeed and that shows during his weekly Q&A and Monday Motivations. He shares his knowledge so that we may be successful.

Hi Atif,
You took away a lot from the session with Alex and Dean and the details you shared of the event gave me a deeper understanding of mentorship and guidance.
One key point that resonates for me is the importance of authenticity and storytelling in affiliate marketing.
I also appreciate the emphasis on taking responsibility for your results.
Thank you for sharing your reflections on the event, and look forward to reading more about the exercise you mentioned.
All the best.
Atif,
This a powerful reminder that we need to stay focused and stay the course. It is easy to get off track and forget about sticking to the basics. Like in every sport when a team isn’t doing well it’s because they lost sight of the basics. They then must go back and drill through the basics over and over till then get them right.
Affiliate/Online marketing is similar. When we find ourselves off in the weeds some where we need to come back to our mentor and start going back through the basics to keep us on track.
Thanks again!
CJ
There is so much valuable information in this blog Atif I had to book mark it!! I had forgotten all these amazing things that Alex said. I cannot wait to be in my Pjs enjoying my coffee, hanging with my kitties, and having that money roll in, and that is why I am running towards affiliate marketing head on and giving it everything I got! This post is so inspiring!!!!!!!
HI Atif,
Being part of Dean’s mentoring group is such an amazing experience. Your post is great in capturing what Alex shared that day! It’s encouraging to see the sequence of mentor to mentor, Mike Filsaime to Alex Jefferies to Dean Holland and now to all of us in Dean’s group who don’t give up 🙂 Imagine all the people those in our group will reach and mentor. Thanks for sharing Atif.
Denny
I was also at this live event and you recalled it perfectly, in my opinion. This is a good reminder of some golden wisdom. This event really motivated and challenged me to progress. One thing I have learned about you in following your journey is your ability to not give up. You are inspiring! I look forward to part 2, my friend!
This was very inspiring to read; Alex’s story is very remarkable. Not that I needed any more examples of the success online businesses can achieve, but I do appreciate his level of success. He is a perfect example of showing me (us) just what is possible. I don’t think we can ever have enough of these stories, and I appreciate you sharing it again. What a very interesting read, and I am lookin forward to the second part.
