This week marks 2 weeks since I released my first ever Facebook Lead Ad. I want to spend sometime looking at the results so far and what lessons we can draw from this to help you when you start your Facebook Lead Ad.
You may have noticed the AI generated image for this post (supposed to be me and my wife). I have been experimenting with the new ‘AI Assistants’ feature within Affiliate System BUT more on that next week!
Dad is home after a week in hospital, thank God. He is weaker but is eating slowly. We have to thicken his drinking water with a special powder to help him swallow. I pray he recovers fully.
I made a bit of extra effort on the TikTok front this week. I am now at 1,404 followers and 23.1k likes. I have release 305 videos now which is quite amazing as I didn’t think I would be able to do 1.Thank you all for being part of the journey. I’m planning to follow a TikTok university program and to learn more about TikTok. I need to increase my knowledge to enhance how it works so I get more engagement more followers and more views.
Now it’s been 2 weeks since I released the Ad, I will talk a look at the stats, what I have learnt and and issues that arose. This should give you advice and a head start to build on my experience and to learn from it. Let me know in the comment what you thought or questions you may have.
Running Facebook Lead Ads can be an incredibly effective way to grow your email list and reach a broader audience. After running my own Facebook lead ad campaign for two weeks, I’ve gained 54 new leads, which is amazing considering it took 5-6 months to get 12 leads through other social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. But like any marketing strategy, there are potential pitfalls and challenges you need to be aware of. In this blog post, I’ll break down what to watch out for, share my own results, and offer tips on how to optimise your campaign.
My Results: A Quick Overview
Here’s a snapshot of how my campaign performed over the first two weeks:
- New Leads: 54
- Cost So Far: £67.77
- CPC (Cost Per Click): £0.88
- CPL (Cost Per Lead): £1.26
- Gender Breakdown: 22 women, 32 men
- Device Breakdown: 53 mobile, 1 desktop
- Geography: Leads from the US, Canada, UK, and New Zealand
- Age Breakdown: Majority 65 and over, with others aged 35-64, and a small number 18-34
The results are promising, especially considering the cost per lead (CPL) of £1.26. This is a strong starting point, but there’s always room for improvement. Let’s dive into the key takeaways and potential issues you might face with Facebook Lead Ads.
Key Takeaway #1: Optimise for Mobile
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the importance of optimising your ad, landing page, and content for mobile. With 53 out of 54 leads coming from mobile devices, it’s clear that most people interact with Facebook on their phones.
Tips for Mobile Optimisation:
- Use Mobile-Friendly Visuals: Ensure that images and videos look great on smaller screens.
- Streamline Your Forms: Keep your lead forms simple and easy to fill out on a mobile device.
- Test on Mobile: Always preview and test your ads on a mobile device before launching.
Key Takeaway #2: Know Your Audience
Another interesting insight was the age breakdown of my leads. Most of my leads were aged 65 and over, with a smaller number in the 35-64 range, and only a few aged 18-34. Initially, I considered excluding the 18-34 age group, but given the diversity of the audience, I’ve decided to keep them in my targeting.
Tips for Audience Targeting:
- Experiment with Age Groups: Don’t be quick to dismiss certain demographics. Test different age ranges to see where your sweet spot is.
- Use Facebook’s Targeting Tools: Facebook provides robust targeting options, so take advantage of them to reach the right audience.
Potential Issues with Facebook Lead Ads
While Facebook Lead Ads can yield great results, there are some common issues you might encounter.
1. Low-Quality Leads
Not every lead you acquire will be high-quality or ready to engage with your brand. You might notice that some leads unsubscribe quickly or provide invalid email addresses, leading to bounced emails.
Solution:
- Use Lead Filtering: Consider adding a qualifying question to your lead form to filter out those who aren’t genuinely interested.
- Monitor and Clean Your List: Regularly check for bounced emails and unsubscribes. Don’t get discouraged by a few unsubscribes; it’s a natural part of email marketing.
2. Ad Fatigue
If your ad is running for an extended period, your target audience might start to experience ad fatigue, leading to lower engagement rates.
Solution:
- Refresh Your Creative: Change your ad visuals or copy periodically to keep your audience interested.
- Rotate Your Ads: Run multiple ads within the same campaign to prevent overexposure to a single creative.
3. High CPL (Cost Per Lead)
While my CPL of £1.26 is reasonable, it can always be improved. A high CPL might indicate that your ad isn’t resonating as well as it could with your target audience.
Solution:
- A/B Test Your Ads: Test different headlines, images, and calls to action to see what resonates best with your audience.
- Optimise Your Landing Page: Ensure that the landing page your leads are directed to, is as compelling as possible.
The Importance of Email List Maintenance
As your email list grows, so does the importance of maintaining it. During my campaign, I noticed two unsubscribes and six bounced emails. While it can be disappointing to lose subscribers, it’s crucial to focus on the bigger picture.
Tips for Maintaining Your Email List:
- Regularly Clean Your List: Remove bounced emails and unsubscribes to keep your list healthy and engaged.
- Don’t Take Unsubscribes Personally: People’s needs and interests change, and that’s okay. Focus on those who are interested in your content.
- Focus on Engagement: Your goal should be to nurture your leads through consistent, valuable content.
Scaling Your Business with Facebook Lead Ads
Despite the challenges, Facebook Lead Ads can be a powerful tool for scaling your business. At the current rate, I could potentially gain over 1,000 new leads in a year, which is a significant growth trajectory. The key is to remain consistent, monitor your results, and make incremental improvements.
A Few Final Tips:
- Be Consistent: Don’t overthink every aspect of your campaign. Trust the process and stick with it.
- Follow Up with an Email Sequence: Having a robust email sequence in place is crucial. I’ve built an email sequence that will eventually span an entire year, with one email going out each day. So far, I have 13 emails ready and I’m adding one each day.
- Keep Testing: Continue to experiment with different strategies and learn from your results. Don’t change too many things at once, as this can make it difficult to identify what’s working.
Keep Moving Forward
Running Facebook Lead Ads has been an eye-opening experience for me, offering a much faster way to grow my email list compared to other social media platforms. While there are challenges and potential issues to be mindful of, the key is to stay focused, make data-driven decisions, and not get discouraged by minor setbacks.
With the right approach, Facebook Lead Ads can significantly scale your business, bringing in a steady stream of new leads and helping you build long-term relationships with your audience. So, keep optimising, stay consistent, and watch your business grow!

Hi Atif – Nice use of AI when generating the picture at the top of your post. I look forward to more of your information regarding how you are using this valuable tool and how you use prompts to get the required data, images or other. I’m so excited for you how your Facebook lead ad is coming along. WOW, those are some fantastic numbers and thank you for being so transparent in the breakdown. This is especially helpful for me as I examine the data in my lead ad and sometimes don’t quite get what the numbers mean. You did a good job explaining it and I thank you very much. I always enjoy your content and it does provide great value to me and many readers! Take care and have a great week, my friend!
I echo what Ernie said 👆. Your generosity in sharing the pros/cons or better- the ins and outs of facebook lead ads is like using a map of how to navigate through. I applaud your progress!! Onward!!
Hey! Thank you Atif for sharing your experience with Facebook lead ads. Mine was a little tougher than yours as my ads were rejected many times. Actually I got one running with similar metrics than yours. Like you, I’m nicely surprised by how easy you can get leads using this way. The only thing is the cost of it. That’s the skill we have to learn right?
Martin
Atif, Way to go with your first two weeks on Facebook Lead Ads. When I had campaigns going I included a daily conversion factor column in my tracking spreadsheet so I could show the dollar amounts in US funds.
I like how you’ve laid out the three takeaways. And then you’ve added potential issues with Facebook Lead Ads. As for Ad Fatigue, I did find one creative that resonated with my readers and I kept it around for a long time without having to make a change.
I do ask who your target audience is. I made the initial mistake of using ads that appealed to the newbie marketer when in fact most of the promotions I had going were intended for those marketers who’ve been around the block once or twice already.
Hi Atif,
Thank you for sharing your insights on Facebook Lead Ads, Wao! It sounds like you’ve made some incredible progress in just two weeks.
I found your key takeaways on mobile optimization and understanding your audience particularly useful. With so many leads coming from mobile, it’s a reminder of how crucial it is to tailor our content for that experience.
I’m especially interested in the strategies you’ve implemented to maintain a healthy email list. It’s encouraging to see your positive outlook on scaling your business with Lead Ads, and I’m inspired to start trying some of these techniques myself!
Looking forward to reading more about your journey and any further tips you might have. Wishing you all the best with your father’s recovery and your ongoing efforts in social media!
I like the image, look really good,
All The Best My Friend,
Atif! I’m really impressed by how quickly you’ve seen results, especially the high number of leads you’ve generated in just two weeks. I believe that awkward kind of, disturbing image you put in your ads is creating the intrigue and curiosity to stop people scrolling, which is what a successful ad is all about!!!!
I also 100% agree that when creating landing pages, blogs, ad it is crucial to ensure they are mobile-optimized, as most people are scrolling on their phones.
Keep up the great work, and I look forward to hearing more about your experiences and the new AI Assistants feature!
Atif, Your AI prompts must have been exhaustive as I immediately saw the resemblance of you in the picture. Thanks for the descriptive explanations of key elements within a FB ad. I will be sure to remember your suggestions when implementing my ad. Your making great progress keep it going!
Hi, Atif! Your detailed explanation of your experience with lead ads is very helpful to me. How exactly do you check your ads for mobile optimization? I don’t know if I’ve done that for myself. Congratulations on your excellent results! I expect you can use the same ad for quite some time before your image sees the same people again. Your AI image looks great! The man looks so much like you maybe that’s your wife cheering you on in the picture? Lol! I love it!
Have a great week, Atif!

Hi Atif,
I have to say that even though I don’t think I’d be looking at using Facebook ads in the near future, I have to admit that this post gave me more information as to what to expect and how to get better at it should I use it in the future.
You’re doing great and the waves you’re creating are bringing us all along in the ride!
Thank you & wishing you all the best!
Hey Atif,
Thanks for sharing such a detailed breakdown of your experience with Facebook Lead Ads. Your insights on mobile optimization and audience targeting are particularly valuable, I hadn’t considered the importance of testing different age groups before, so that’s something I’ll definitely keep in mind moving forward.
The idea of lead filtering to improve the quality of leads is brilliant. It’s easy to get caught up in the numbers, but focusing on quality over quantity makes total sense. I also appreciate your tips on maintaining the email list and not taking unsubscribes personally. It’s a good reminder that it’s all part of the process.
I’m excited to hear more about your experiments with the new AI Assistants feature in the Affiliate System. Congrats on your TikTok growth as well—it’s inspiring to see how consistent effort pays off!
Looking forward to your next update!
Meredith
