This week I am still in Doha, Qatar and plan to return home on Friday next week. If any of you get a chance to come to Doha, please do it’s a wonderful place. Really nice people and it’s quite unique. It’s not as crazy as as Dubai and it’s not as conservative as Saudi Arabia. It sits in a sweet spot in between. In fact, last night I went for a walk. It was late evening in late September and it was still 34° (93F) and quite humid. Apparently the best time to come is between November and March where it’s in the late 20s (70s F) and not humid. As a taster, here’s a photo of the Katara towers, which is a seven star hotel in the shape of two swords. One side is the raffles hotel and the other side is the Fairmont hotel. It is quite spectacular when you’re standing next to him. Let me know what you think.
TikTok wise things are improving as I’ve now started to repost videos again again after a short break. I’ve got 1415 followers and a total of 23.7 K likes. What’s really positive is that I’m getting people messaging me directly with an interest in affiliate marketing and asking how they can start. This is really great and really positive that my content is making people make the effort to DM me to find out how to do it. I’ll let you know how this goes.
It’s all getting a bit STALE
What I want to talk about today is something that’s really really important in fact it’s something you don’t really learn or understand until you’ve started your business. It’s not something you would even think about or know how to do before you start. Therefore, it really is part of the journey of building your online business.
So what am I talking about? When you start a blog or a social media channel like TikTok or Instagram or even a Facebook page or answering questions on Quora, you don’t know what you’re doing when you first start out. You open a new post and you type something or create a video; Talking about your journey or teaching your audience how to do something etc. This is all fine at the beginning because you’re learning. Overtime you start to pick up tips and tricks on how to improve your content, the way you express yourself, how confident you are in your videos and your writing and that type of thing.
In time you become better and better at doing it. After six months to a year, I’ve now got to a point where I feel like I need to learn even more about each of my platforms. By that I mean, I think I’ve gone as far as I can with the knowledge that I’ve currently got on how to do TikTok videos, how to grow my audience on Instagram or developing my Facebook business page.
It’s feeling a bit stale it’s like it needs a boost or a kick up the backside to enhance it and elevate up to the next level. First of all why do I have to do that? Why can’t I just stay as I am?
Change is good
Well, we all have to learn skills or knowledge in our lives and for our business – and it’s a constant learning curve. You can’t possibly know everything so you have to find out more things. Platforms change and they add and remove features so you have to adapt and change to fit around that. There’s more and more people on social platforms so you have to stand out from the crowd. It’s a constant evolution of the platform and your knowledge that makes you grow as a person and as a business owner so you can leverage the benefit fully of the platform and what knowledge is out there.
An example I can give is Lewis Hamilton Formula, One driver world champion over seven times I think. When he first started he was eight years old or thereabouts and had a tiny small Kart, that’s what was suitable for him with his height and age and experience. You couldn’t put an eight-year-old in a Formula One car, he wouldn’t even reach the pedals. As he raced and won race after race he improved and got better and better. Then it becomes too easy or you’ve gone as far as you can with that particular level. So it’s then time to go up to the next level for example formula 2 or formula 3 or formula Ford. You then grow and build in that area until eventually you do the same and then move into Formula One. Once you’re there you continually grow and get better and better.
So I guess my analogy shows that you start something, you perfect it, you then go up a level and then perfect it and then go up a level and then perfect that. I think that’s where I am currently after six months or so of doing TikTok, Instagram, my blog, and creating my Facebook business page and Facebook lead ad. I’ve got to the stage where I need to up my game and learn more about each of these areas. I can improve and build them and get better so that I’m in a position to grow the business, get more traffic and then help people do the same.
If I stay where I currently am; in one to five years time I wouldn’t have developed or grown, but I need to increase my value that I provide to my audience. So I have to by it’s very nature adapt and grow.
So with this in mind what I’m doing this week is I’m listing out all the platforms I’m on and what I need to do in each of them which will then give me what I need to go and learn. Then I need to make a plan on what I need to do. With some it’s just going to be suck it and see others will be Courses and research and some will be learning from others.
Now, we have to be careful we don’t just go out there and take on too much and try to learn 10 things at the same time. If you could do that, that’s great but generally it’s better to pick a couple of things and timetable them into your week and progress at those. And of course you have to carry on with your regular content creation and audience engagement as you were doing before anyway.
So here’s a list of all the different things that I need to start thinking about here goes:
My Blog, my owned Asset – Increase the number of blogs that I write. Get better at leaving comments for others on their blogs and then replying to the ones who left me comments. Start blog hopping with established affiliate marketers. Give advise to people who left comments and engage with them, build a relationship.
TikTok – Consistently post everyday. Post more videos each day building up to 10? Study the TikTok University programme, learn how to increase my followers with the right people. Start making affiliate videos for TikTok shop. Improve my hooks and content. Watch Sophie’s TikTok videos training from last week. Signup to Dean’s future TikTok journey programme.
Instagram – Repurpose my TikTok videos on Instagram. Learn how to grow followers on IG. Contact people that DM’s me directly and build on relationships with my audience.
Skool Community – Post and respond regularly. Post a few comments per day of value to the group. Continue to ask questions for the Wednesday and AUA (ask us anything) Q&A’s. Start and somplete module 1 of the beginners advantage training and then module 2.
Internet Profits Accelerator – Check to see if I need to complete any modules that I may have missed. Facebook and WordPress etc.
Facebook Lead Ad – Monitor my ad, consider a 2nd ad for a new niche or lead magnet for the future.
Facebook Business page – Start to post content from my whole ecosystem on this page. I am getting visitors via the Lead ad. So need to provide them content to consume.
Quora – Start answering questions again, it’s been over a year yet I still get nearly 1000 views per month on existing content. Build on this momentum.
The Affiliate system – Go through every feature and master the whole system
Canva – Improve my knowledge in producing ebooks, graphics etc. on this platform
CapCut – Master video editing on CapCut with higher quality videos and effects where required.
Facebook Business Suite – Learn how to use this platform better to enhance my business
WordPress – Master this platform with the aid of Glenn’s new training that is coming
YouTube – Build a channel where I teach my audience step by step skills and create a knowledge database
Pinterest – Use this to direct people to my blog
AI Artificial Intelligence – Use the AI assistants in the Affiliate System and ChatGPT etc. to provide skeletons and structure to my content.
So as you can see, I have got an incredible amount to do. You may think this is too much or I don’t need to do a lot of this and you may be right. But in my head these are the things I want to learn. No, I’m not saying I’m going to do this all together all at the same time – I’m going plan this out. I’m going to use project management software as a task manager to plan these out over the coming months, some of these will be potentially one or two years before I’ve mastered them. That’s okay they’re on the radar and they’re in the plan and I can adjust and move as I go.
Oh, and there’s one more thing. There’s one thing I’ve been thinking about for over six months now and I need to work out how to structure it and how to make it password protected. That is #Atif’s Academy. You may have seen this at the end of my blogs and at the top of my blog homepage. This is a special area for my audience members that sign up that will give them access to plans and blueprints that I have developed on how they can set up their businesses from scratch. I’m really excited about this but it will take time to develop. Is this something you are interested in? #Atif’s Academy
Hi Atif – You have an incredible gift for motivating people. I love it that you are able to take it to the next level by focusing on your extensive list and biting off what you need to do in chunks so that you can complete all of your tasks efficiently and successfully. Notice, I didn’t say effortlessly because there is a lot of effort that is required in this business. I truly don’t know how you do it all, but it is inspiring. Best wishes on your travels and here’s to watching you continue to see success. I look forward to many, many, more posts from you so that I can follow your journey! Have a wonderful day and weekend!
Wow, Atif, you have a lot going on!
I agree about continually learning about each of the platforms we use, and get better as we go. I just have to be careful not to overwhelm myself with too many platforms. It can quickly become overwhelming and unproductive for me. I’ve been know in the past to be a jack of all trades and master of none. I could do a lot of things good but no one thing great. I’ve had to become more patient to focus on becoming great at a few things, blogging, FB and re-engage on TT (soon). The fact you can do all that you’ve doing is outstanding!
Atif, I know not where in Qatar but I had a quick meet with an aquaintance this week and he told me he worked in Qatar – I think in the early nineties. We are in fact, pretty much done with our 20+ degree weather here in Calgary. I used to work for the CN chain of hotels and most of them were sold to the Fairmont chain. The Katara towers look like something one would find in Las Vegas.
It’s great to hear that folks are now DMing you to figure out how to get started with Affiliate Marketing. But I’m starting to think I am more than a few steps behind you, lol. Much success to you!
I love the list you have made to propel you to move forward. I am inspired to develop my own. Of course, my main focus is YouTube, and I have so much more to learn about that. The good news for me is that I’ve niched down to health and wellness for boomers and seniors. This has suddenly upped my subscriber base! Very excited about that!
Hi Atif,
Thanks for sharing your experiences! The Katara towers sound incredible, and I appreciate the travel tips.
I can relate to your need to up your game and love your analogy with Lewis Hamilton, progressing through levels is essential. Your action plan for each platform is inspiring, especially #Atif’s Academy, it sounds like a valuable resource!
As for me, I’ll focus on improving my TikTok content and engaging more with my audience. Looking forward to seeing how you grow your business!
Meredith
Hi Atif,
I’m reading your “to do” list and I’m out of breath! LOL!
The irony though is that, from what I know of you, this is small peanuts for you to do!
All kidding aside though, the fact that you have a plan, a structure and a timeline, I’m sure you’ll get this done!
Great picture of the hotel! All the best!
Hi Atif! What a view! The Katara towers look so impressive, unusual and spectacular. Must be really expensive staying a night in such Hotel. I must admit you are in an area I know nothing about. It’s another planet for me. What a great adventure you must be living there!
It’s a nice todo list you posted here. I may pick one or two ideas of things to do to improve myself if you don’t mind!
Martin
Qatar at night looks beautiful especially that hotel with the crossed swords. Up our game on platforms is what we all need to do. I do better on some than others. Instagram however is still pretty much a mystery. My main two are TikTok and YouTube for short videos.
Those Katara towers must be something else in person! And congrats on your TikTok growth! It’s awesome that people are reaching out about affiliate marketing, you must feel really proud that you are helping people.. I totally get that feeling of wanting to shake things up when things feel a bit stale. Your plan sounds super organized, and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds! Enjoy your time in Doha x
Atif,
You sure do have a lot of things on your “To Do” list, but I think as creators and business owners that is how we are going to grow. I have a long list also and thought it was overwhelming (until I saw yours). I am going to also try to complete one (or maybe two) at a time. I do not think my list will ever get to zero. Congratulations on your followers.
